Aphra / Best reminder apps compared
Best reminder apps compared
There is no single best reminder app. Apple Reminders and Google Tasks are free and built into the phones and accounts you already use, Todoist and Any.do are fuller task managers, and Aphra is for people who would rather hand a job over than manage a list.

How we compared
We looked at how you get a job in (speed of capture, voice), how it comes back, whether it connects to your calendar, and how the plans are structured. Each row below states one fact from the product's own page, with a link and the date we checked it. We have not benchmarked alert reliability. We make Aphra, so read its row with that in mind.
Reminder apps side by side
| App | One verified fact | Source (checked 6 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Reminders | Add a reminder by typing, dictating, asking Siri or from the Calendar app; set alerts by time and location. | Apple Support |
| Google Tasks | Tasks have due dates and notifications, can be made from Gmail and Calendar, and sync across devices. | Google Tasks Help |
| Todoist | The free Beginner plan includes task reminders; custom task reminders are on the Pro plan. | Todoist pricing |
| Any.do | The Premium plan lists WhatsApp reminders and location reminders. | Any.do pricing |
| Aphra | You say or type a job once, your assistant answers straight away, and it brings the job back when it matters. Email works with Outlook; Gmail is coming soon. | aphra.me |
Where Aphra is not the right pick
- If you want to manage projects, boards and shared lists, a task manager such as Todoist or Any.do is built for that.
- If you only want a free list on your phone, Apple Reminders or Google Tasks is enough.
- Gmail and Google Calendar are not live yet. Outlook email and calendar work today.
- Aphra is not in the app stores yet. Email us and we will tell you when it is.
Pick by situation
- You want a free list already on your phone: Apple Reminders or Google Tasks.
- You run projects as well as reminders: Todoist or Any.do.
- You keep saying "I must remember to..." and want it taken off you: Aphra.
Questions people ask
- What is the best reminder app?
- It depends on how you work. If you want a free list that is already on your phone, use the built-in app. If you want a full task manager, use one of the task apps in the table. If you want to say a job once and have it handled and returned, try an assistant such as Aphra.
- What is the best reminder app for ADHD?
- No app suits everyone. Look for one that captures a thought in one move, returns it at the right moment and does not ask you to maintain a system. Speak to a clinician for advice about your own needs.
- Is there a free reminder app?
- Apple Reminders and Google Tasks are free, and Todoist and Any.do both have free plans. You can also try Aphra free, typed or spoken, with no sign-up.
- Do you test these apps for reliability?
- No. The facts in the table come from each product's own pages and are dated. We have not benchmarked how reliably each app delivers alerts.
